2011 Runabout Jetski line up:

Kawasaki 300 X

Chris Farnley- Farnley Jetski's ChristChurch  027 5666182

Yamaha VXR

WatercraftWorld Church St Penrose, Auckland

Seadoo RXP-X

JFK Jetski's & Motorcycles Cavendish Dr   Manukau

These are the new weapons from the main 3 PWC manufacturers.

Seadoo have continued with the RXT-X and the RXP-X, with minor cosmetic changes the Seadoo range stays very similar, although a nice looking Ski they tend to fall apart at the seams, so to speak, with riders reporting the current models showing weakness with the Hull, not coping with the stress of competition riding.
The GTI on the other hand is still Seadoo's best seller, possibly the best value for money PWC on the market.

Yamaha have introduced a 1800 cc Natrually spirated  4 x stroke 4 x cylinder weapon pumping out similar performance figures as it's big brother the FZR supercharged 2 or 3 seater.
Being much lighter the VXR is able to compare well, with so much development potential rumoured to be it's most valuable asset setting it apart from all the other new Jetski's.

Kawasaki have released the big banger with the Ultra X.With 300 H/P it has to be the Ultimate rough water craft out there, as it is so new we will all have to wait to hear how good it really is.
Holdin may  be testing  this Ski if we can get hold of one, for the Winter Series.

Keep an eye on this site to get an update as the season progresses.

Which is the best Jet ski for you?

2009 has been an extremely hard financial year a statement heard throughout

the whole PWC Industry, yet Jet ski enthusiasts are still able to choose from 5

different brands of runabout PWC, the following reviews deal with the most

popular models seen in the NZ Jet ski racing scene, which provides a very good

platform to judge attributes as well as shortcomings. These Jet ski’s are

available from NZ retailers, PWC dealerships have battled financial challenges for

a couple of years now competing to provide current models, on time to the

consumer as we approach  the summer season.

Seadoo.

The biggest mover of all the Jet ski brands is Seadoo responsible for

approxiamately 60% of all PWC sales, Seadoo manufacture several popular

models the most preferred race ski is the 2 X seater 255 H/P supercharged RXP-

X ($24000), fast and furious, difficult to ride at high speed, loves smooth water,

not too comfortable in the rough, this ski is the fastest flat water stock ski you

can buy off the shop floor ,for this reason many units are sold.

When competing the Seadoo RXP-X requires strict maintenance, with lots of

horsepower and it's high performance 4 X stroke  supercharged Unit, this Ski

has had its fair share of podium finishes, there are more RXP-X ski's racing the

NZ racing scene than any other Runabout brand which can account for the

percentage of wins,as with all race inspired machines the RXP-X  when

competing tests the endurance qualities of its engineering adding stress to an

already highly tuned engine, earlier models suffered from Super charger washer

issues, this model seems to give less trouble with washers but has a tendency to

blow off supercharger hoses with the added H/P the engine produces, Seadoo

are sure to address this small issue in the next model.

The RXP-X continues on from the race proven RXP.

Pictures have been released of the successor to the RXP-X the RXP-X 260

boasting 5 more H/P,being available this summer, this model is set to continue

with the legacy started by the 2003 RXP.

Seadoo’s  is the only PWC manufacturer providing a 2 X year mechanical

warranty with each PWC giving owners a level of assurance much needed for a

unit of this value, the 3 X seater version with the same power train is the RXT-X

the next most  popular race ski with outstanding acceleration for a large

runabout. For the more discerning buyer the new iS Seadoo 3 X seater

($31,300) is available with the newest of innovatve design and technology this

ski is proving popular with the recreational riders according to one Auckland

retailer.

Seadoo do not have a pole ski available instead opt for the 3D hybrid ski, which is

also raced in it's own class within the NZ race scene.($14,000).

Other models on offer, RXT,RXP,and the GTI range.

Kawasaki.

Kawasaki are another major manufacturer in the PWC industry, they have the

longest history in the industry, Kawasaki actually own the trademark Jet ski, all

other manufacturers use the term PWC (personal water craft) .

Kawasaki have several good models, the Ultra 250 X a 3 X seater 250 H/P

supercharged 4 X cylinder monster($25,000) with the best rough water hull

available, this is a well engineered Jet ski that has shown its pedigree well in the

NZ race scene over the last couple of years, the Ultra 250 X is being revised all

the time and is the ski to beat in any offshore event. The Kawasaki 15F 2 X

seater Naturally Aspirated engine ($18,000) has an incredible history as a race

and recreational ski, dominating short course racing globally prior to the

introduction of supercharge ski’s. The Kawasaki SXR-800 pole ski ($12,000) is

the most popular pole ski of all.

Other models available Kawasaki 12F.

Yamaha.

Yamaha have been the market leaders in reliability and style for several years,

now with the introduction of the new 1800cc supercharged engine models

Yamaha are now more competitive on the race platform as well, winning titles

in the same style that saw the legendary GP 1300r muscle craft dominate the

Jet ski race scene from 2000 to 2004,being ridden competively by the two best

riders in the world Chris McCluggage and Nicolas Rius.

The Yamaha FZR  2 x seater 1800cc supercharged Jet ski is Yamaha’s answer

to all other brands of race ski’s, The FZR has stamped it’s mark on the race }

scene with wins in all classes at international level, The FXHO features the same

drive train with the inclusion of a naturally Aspirated version with seating for

three, Yamaha provide the discerning buyer with a range of Jet ski’s for the

recreational rider, the fisherman, rescue organizations and the Jetski rental

Industry Internationally because of their proven reliability, style and economy.

Yamaha are often the first choice.

The Yamaha 701 Pole ski ($10,600)is arguably the best freestyle pole ski made,

look any where there are freestyle events, the Yamaha features well above

other manufacturers. On a recent visit to Watercraftworld Auckland Dave has

remodelled the showroom transforming it into a state of the Art exhibition

centre with Yamaha PWC, two wheel and four wheel products,to accomodate

the addition of motorcycles to the dealership Yamaha Auckland is the new

trading name, the company is also the only Kawasaki Dealership in Auckland at

present.

Other models available FXHO,FX Cruiser, VX 110, 3 X models,GP1300r , FZR,  VXS

X stroke powered Runabout Jet ski still available new.

Honda.

Honda is a global brand recognized by millions of buyers of quads, motorcycles

and the largest manufacturer of stationary engines not to mention they build

very good motor vehicles, so it would not be surprising to assume that Honda

build a very good Jet ski, and they do. Honda are relatively new to the jet ski

industry and have approached the PWC market very smartly opting for quality

before horsepower. They are the only manufacturer to provide a water

jacketed turbo engine to their PWC giving  not found with

any other Turbo charged engines. As with all Honda engineering the Honda

engine  is quiet, powerful, efficient detuned with reliability foremost, Honda’s

confidence in its reliability is backed by their service recommendation, a

standard 10 hr service from new with the next scheduled service at 100 hrs.

The Honda hull is  best suited for the open sea, yet still performs

well in flat water as well. The Honda F 15-X is the Flagship of the Honda PWC

fleet with GPS and the only PWC that includes a dead accurate speed odometer.

Honda offer variations of two basic models, The RX-12 Turbo and non Turbo models

and the Honda F 15-X in two models, with a 1500cc Turbo Charged engine.

The NZ Jetblacks are not racing the Honda this year as Honda NZ have pulled out of the Jetski Racing competition
